April 20 – 2007

When an alien race of the future discovers the fossilized remains of Soccernista, they will marvel not at the blatant MLS bashing, the cheap jokes at the expense of Chris Albright, or the epic overuse of the semicolon. No. It will be the profit turning ways of our resident Czech national that earns their respect.

Lukey went 10-3 last week, and donkey punched his total winnings to $211.17 (based on $5 and $10 mythical wagers). Let’s see if he can keep this Gurkha fueled train rolling, after the jump.Â

Lock of the Week

I’m en fuego. 10-3 last week, which followed the previous week’s picks at 7-3. If my math is correct, that makes me 17-6 over my last 23 picks. Now, if you’ve been following along then you a) have obviously been making money, and b) should not be surprised where I’m going this week with the “lock”.

A good rule to follow when wagering is to stay with what’s been working, whether that be one team, one division, betting on a certain day, etc. For me, I’ve been all over the relegation battle, and I’ve been MONEY!!!! As a side note, I’d just like to make mention that I’ve also skyrocketed in the standings with my premiership fantasy team.

It’s hard to ignore the London battle at White Hart Lane but we’re off to The Valley. The clash between Charlton and Sheff. Utd epitomizes the drama that occurs when you relegate teams at the bottom. You think reality TV has drama? MLS playoffs? The Masters? Forget it!! What you’re in for in this match will be pure, unadulterated drama. Am I saying that these are the two most entertaining sides in the EPL – of course not. BUT, I guarantee that at the end of this game you will see supporters of one side looking like their young child just got eaten by a bear, while the supporters of the other side will be acting as if they just won the lottery. It’s that intense, it means that much, and it’s drama at it’s finest.

Charlton currently sit in the danger zone but are only two points behind Sheff. Utd, while Wigan and Fulham sit only one point ahead of SheffieldUtd. Charlton has been playing well and only a brilliant strike by James McFadden of Everton in the 91st minute kept them from earning a point at Goodison last week. The Blades pounded West Ham, and then lost to Man U; no surprise on either end. At this point, two main factors swayed my decision to go with Charlton: they are playing at home and they have a guy named Darren Bent. He’ll be the difference maker. Charlton 3 – Sheff. 2.

Tottenham v Arsenal: 1-3
Bolton v Reading: 2-0
Charlton v Sheff Utd: 3-2
Fulham v Blackburn: 2-1
Liverpool v Wigan: 3-0
Watford v Man City: 0-2
West Ham v Everton: 1-2
Man Utd v Middlesbrough: 3-0

Newcastle v Chelsea: 1-3
Aston Villa v Portsmouth: 2-2
