Lukey the Czech for 2/9/07
February 9 -2007

Lukey the Czech was once hit by a flying plate of Nachos while at a US-Mexico game in the late ’90s. I can only assume, then, he was happy with this past week’s result. And a happy Czech, makes for happy picks.
Last week’s matches were fairly uneventful in terms of Lukey’s bankroll, and he now sits at a comfortable $139.64 (based on $5 and $10 mythical wagers). Let’s see if Lukey can channel his nacho revenge satisfaction into some winners, after the jump.
Lock of the Week:
Last week, I once again hit the lock. I’m not sure of my overall record on the “lock of the week,” but I think it’s in the positive. This week, I’m taking a team that at the beginning of the year I didn’t think had a chance to stay up. Decent form as of late and they find themselves 7 pts clear of the relegation zone. On a side note, let me just say you’re safe betting on Chelsea, Man U., and Arsenal this week…but, that’s too easy sooooooooo……
We travel to Bramell Lane for this weeks clash between Sheff. Utd and Tottenham. Spurs are by far the biggest underachievers in the EPL. A roster filled with international players AND a Dutch coach; what else could a fan ask for? Well, let me make a suggestion..how about more than one road win!
Pathetic, disgraceful…one fricking win on the road. Frankly, it’s difficult to predict what you’ll get out of Tottenham on any given day and I’m not liking their odds this week. They travel into a hostile environment against a team that is fighting, and fighting well, each and every week. I do know what to expect out of Sheffield: fight, grit, tackling, hard work, etc. You can have all the skill in the world but without the fight and desire you’ve got nothing. I’ll gladly take the less skilled Warnock warriors…Blades 2 - Primadonnas 1.
Reading v Aston Villa: 1-1
Chelsea v Middlesbrough: 2-0
Everton v Blackburn: 3-1
Man Utd v Charlton: 3-0
Newcastle v Liverpool: 1-2
Sheff Utd v Tottenham: 2-1
West Ham v Watford: 1-0
Portsmouth v Man City: 2-1
Bolton v Fulham: 2-0
Arsenal v Wigan: 3-0

It’s funny that no one wants to comment on my predictions when I go 7-3….I’ll take that as a compliment!
