Holla at ya boy
February 1 – 2007
I suspected it would happen. I just didn’t think it would unfold, with such obvious clarity, on the pages of his own website. First, the “pre-Prem” Clint:
January 10 Its official yall heard right ya boy got the green light to go ahead… I appreciate all the support along the way and it goes to show grindin pays off. Im a represent to the fullest be easy and God Bless…
Now, the “post-Prem” Clint, fresh off his debut against Tottenham:
January 22 Got a chance to play in my first EPL game this weekend. Got in for about 13-15 min against the spurs at home. It is good to finally be settled instead of having to fly back and forth from the states to get the permit completed. I was just excited to get in a game because I havent played in a game since Nov. Still working on my fitness but things are moving in the right direction. I hear that the U.S. team defeated Denmark, so I just wanted to say congratulations on starting the year off right. Hope everybody is doin well and I appreciate the comments.
The former is the posting of an MLS standout who not too long ago cut a rap single featuring lyrics like “dont wake a sleepin giant unless u wanna c him pist
though i’m quick with my feet u aint seen the fist.” The latter is a note home from a man who has witnessed first-hand the Premiership’s awesome speed of play. And it terrified him.
By all acounts, Dempsey played well in his debut, and I have a feeling he’ll do just fine at Fulham. A small part of me, though, will mourn the loss of his unique writing style. Will Clint rediscover his turn of phrase? Is it gone for good? Will we never again be the beneficiaries of such wisdom as “you gotta hold it down or move around”?
Let’s hope not, because that would be a shame. A damn shame.

?dont wake a sleepin giant unless u wanna c him pist
though i?m quick with my feet u aint seen the fist.?
Well, at least we know that “Don’t Tread” was never intended for the ears of Joey Franchino!

The guy is a good player but what a lost little soul. Who speaks like that anyway? He’s from a po-dunk little town in Texas…not like people were doing drive-bys on the double wide down the dirt road….jesus man, get a grip!

Have you spent some time looking around his website? Honestly, what is wrong with this guy? He’s the K-Fed of soccer…completely delusional. Who says shit like, “holla at ya boy”?? …the more I think about it, the more I can’t stand this idiot.

I’ll tell you who talks like that – kids from po-dunk little towns in Texas who suddenly find themselves in a big city and they’re trying to fit in. Sometimes it takes a while for a kid to figure out who he is.

“Sometimes it takes a while for a kid to figure out who he is.”
Personally, I hope Dempsey eventually settles on the “Alexi Lalas with a dash of Joey from Growing Pains” personality.

Here’s another thought – has our boy got so big that somone from Team Clint has now been designated to update the blog?

joey? did you happen to mean the tv show blossom?
growing pains was about the seavers… mike (kirk cameron), boner (mike’s friend) and whoever played mike’s brother (no one knows his seaver name or real name)
although leo was on growing pains… ahh the memories

Crap. Wrong crappy show. I meant the Joey from Full House…but Joey from Blossom plus Lalas would be sweet too.

I thought about that, but you’d think whomever he hired would “keep it street”, or something.
