Lukey the Czech for 1/19/07
January 19 -2007

After eating some chalk on last weekend’s picks, Lukey the Czech slips to an overall bankroll of $129.76 (based on $5 and $10 wagers). Which, coincidentally, leaves him exactly 24 cents short of the $130 he’ll need to tryout for the Galaxy. Let’s see if his picks can get him to the Home Depot Center, after the jump.
Pick of the Week:
Last week we went .500 and got some flack for it. Questions arose about my comments in regards to the bookies as well as “that age old argument over value vs. outcome”. Let’s me just say that, even in hindsight, I’m very happy with my picks. Again, I’m not always concerned about the outcome. In the long run, you’ll make money if you make good picks. For example, I picked Tottenham at home last week against Newcastle. Newcastle won the game but prior to the game there was absolutley NO good reason to bet on Newcastle. They stink on the road, Tottenham hadn’t lost a home game in months, and recent results backed our logic. Follow me here…you’ll make money.
I can’t stay away from Anfield this weekend. Liverpool have been great at home and are on a great run as of late. As for Chelsea, well it’s the same old Chelsea drama. Will Jose stay or go? Is Shevchenko a distraction (I doubt it)? Is his wife (most definitely)?
Liverpool have NOT lost at home and have conceeded only 3 goals: that’s impressive. Chelsea have been solid on the road, but the combination of Essien and Carvalho in the center of defense can’t hold up. Couple that with a missing Claude Makelele and I’m seeing some major holes through the center of the field. Chelsea are starting to remind me of a soap opera I’m more accustomed to seeing in the NBA, and frankly it’s tiring. Liverpool come out firing on all cylinders and the combination of Kuyt, Crouch, and Bellamy give Chelsea fits…2-1!
