The French are scaring us

December 14 - 2006

When Congress changed the cafeteria menu to read “Freedom Fries,” we thought it was absurd. When folks turned out in the streets to dump French wine down the gutter, we thought it was ridiculous. When talk of “Boycott France” surfaced, we thought it was stupid.

But darned if we’re not beginning to worry about our beret wearing, handlebar moustachioed friends from Frog-land.

On the heels of the stomach churning events taking place in Paris, we get this: a French video game mock-up titled Football Sniper. Of course we don’t take these things too seriously, but geez…is that really necessary? Right down to the crowd shots of girls fighting back the urge to puke, we think probabaly not.
But judge for yourself.

  1. I would say it’s a bit too much.

speaking of video games though, winning eleven and uefa champions league come out for xbox 360 in february and march.

perhaps they can make a sniper video in stunning high definition then.

  3. Zidane is worth 3x as much as Pires. Fairly flattering to le canard I would say

  4. I think it’s a fake. Konami is the video game company. Not Kondami.

  5. Um, isn’t this just a joke? Pretty sure that’s the Winning Eleven opening with some stupid sniper graphics laid over top…

  7. Yeah, this is a joke. Just various tackles and falls in a normal video game with a rifle and gunshot sounds overlaid. I’m not sure if you guys are serious or not?

  8. Actually, we’re never serious.
Yes, we know the game is a joke. Yes, we laughed at “Pires Headshot.” Yes, we think the French need to cool it a bit on the football and violence cocktail. Yes, if Pires is worth 100, Zidane should be worth closer to 5,000. Yes, we’d play this game if we could aim at Mourinho.
