Lukey the Czech for 12/08/06
December 08 – 2006
7-6 might not sound like a great week, but remember: because there are three results (w-l-d) there are twice as many ways to lose when your wagering on soccer. Lukey the Czech’s bankroll received a modest boost off this performance to $131.24 (based on $5 and $10 mythical wagers). Let’s see how the Czech-man handles this weekend’s slate of Prem action, after the jump.
Pick of the Week:
Not a bad last week as I went 7-6. More importantly, my lock of the week came in big time and I also predicted a tie between Villa and Portsmouth that netted a nice dollar amount. But enough of the past, let’s keep moving forward…
This week I’m once again going to pick a road team as my pick of the week. Wigan got pounded last week by Liverpool only to recover a few days later and beat up on the Hammers at Upton Park. This week, Wigan travel to the Riverside to take on an average Middlesbrough team, which also happens to be one of my least favorite EPL teams. At home, Middlesbrough has scored 7 goals while giving up 9. Wigan on the other hand has scored 9 on the road while giving up 10. The kicker, you ask? The odds on Wigan winning are almost 2.5-1. Basically, put down a $10 bet and if you win, you pocket almost $25. I don’t quite understand it – how can Wigan be such an underdog? “Boro” are a painful team to watch – maybe Southgate really does need a coaching license, or maybe he’s just a better player than coach. Either way, they’re piss-poor and look for them to fall even further in the table. I’m predicting they barely survive the year and don’t survive this match with a win….Wigan 2, Borough 1!!!!!!!!!!!
Man Utd v Man City: 2-0
Blackburn v Newcastle: 2-1
Liverpool v Fulham: 3-0
Middlesbrough v Wigan: 1-2
Portsmouth v Everton: 2-0
Tottenham v Charlton: 3-1
Watford v Reading: 1-1
Bolton v West Ham: 2-0
Chelsea v Arsenal: 2-1
Sheff. Utd v Aston Villa: 0-1
Chelsea v Newcastle: 2-0
Wigan v Arsenal: 0-2

8-4 last week…pretty good!
