The release of FIFA 07 is almost upon us, and EA has planted a few viral vids on YouTube (for the kids). The spots lampoon the long worshipped yet fundamentally ridiculous concept of “motion capture,” and do so to good effect. Juninho Pernambucano, Ronaldinho, and David Villa are shown running with otters, playing accordion, and flying Superman-style, respectively. All ask, in their native tongues, “Is this in the game?” Villa is humorless, Ronaldinho predictably goofy, and Juninho surprisingly funny.

Our favorite, though, is Wayne Rooney.

The concept of anger-management is overwrought. Today, when someone says, “So and so needs anger-management,” they mean only “that guy gets angry.” This does a disservice to the people who actually need anger-management. Wayne Rooney is one of those people. Watch the spot below, and see if his frenetic punching and tomahawk pinata chops don’t make you a little uncomfortable.

What’s that? They do? Now you know how Alex Ferguson feels every time the whistle blows.

  1. He looks really, really good at beating the shit out of that punching bag. Like he has some practice or something. After this commcerical, I suspect no more of his colleagues will proposing threesomes with his chav-tastic girlfried.

  5. [...] When I read the headlines today about Wayne Rooney being questioned about his role in a nightclub brawl, I had a hard time telling whether this was old news or new news. It is difficult to keep track of Rooney’s pugilistic ways. When he isn’t beating up opposing players while sitting down and he isn’t getting into scraps with fans and he isn’t training in tights, Rooney apparently is getting into tussles with photographers at 5am outside a nightclub.
