Needing A Win

Needing a Win
Remember the halcyon days of the World Cup? Lukey the Czech was as automatic as a US National Team loss. Through 63 games (”Screw you, 3rd place game”) he amassed a massive $213 profit (based on $10 mythical wages). All seemed right with the world, and Soccernista had found its gambling messiah.Fast forward to today. Prospects for peace in the Middle East have stalled, and Lukey the Czech is hemorrhaging losses. His war-chest has shrunk to $124.35 and, last week, the poor guy even resorted to throwing his beloved Arsenal under the bus (to no avail). He’s still far, far ahead. But how long will we have to wait for the second coming? Perhaps until the NFL wraps up in January?

Prem Matches for Saturday, Sunday, and Monday.

I told you last week: the first mistake “amateurs” make is betting with their hearts instead of their minds. The second mistake gamblers around the world make is betting for their favorite team. Emotion clouds the mind of rational thought, and thus one mistake rolls into two. Last week, I bet against my team (Arsenal) and paid for it dearly. Although I was overcome with joy Sunday morning (not to mention all of Sunday after a 5-0 day on my NFL football picks) I was also distraught over my recent lack of winners. So what should one do?Forget about it. I’m betting on my team this weekend, no emotion involved (proof provided by last weeks pick), just sheer logic.

Arsenal look like they’re finally coming together, and I’m hoping that the insertion of Henry back into the lineup doesn’t make the others go back into a shell and wait for the Frenchman to do something great. They attacked with great enthusiasm last week. Fabregas and Rosicky were wonderful in the midfield while Adebayor was nothing short of brilliant up front. I think they’ve turned the corner, and other teams better take notice. I’m looking for nothing short of a beating against a team that should thank God daily for their presence in the premiership. Gunners clean house….3-0!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

EDITOR’S NOTE: Lukey’s “mortal lock” pays 1:5 for an Arsenal win. We are watching a Czech man come undone. Let’s pray, for his sake, that Arsenal thump Shitfield United. The guy needs a win.

Rest of the Field:

Liverpool vs. Tottenham: 2-0
Aston Villa vs. Charlton: 1-0
Fulham vs. Chelsea: 0-2
Man City vs. West Ham: 2-2
Middlesbrough vs. Blackburn: 2-2
Wigan vs. Watford: 2-0
Reading vs. Man U: 0-2

Newcastle vs. Everton: 1-2

Portsmouth vs. Bolton: 1-0
